It's a competition between halls which aims to raise awareness of sustainability, through the organisation of events and campaigns on issues such as energy saving, waste reduction, low carbon food campaigns, biodiversity and volunteering.
Taking part in such a project will result in gaining points on the Make a Difference: Think Sustainability tool. The hall that organises the most events throughout the year will win the competition, and as a reward will win an end of year party for all of its residents.
Each year funding is awarded through the Halls Green Fund to projects that will improve halls of residence through environmental initiatives. If your Residents Association is actively engaged with the Think Sustainability Competition, they can bid for funding for carbon reducing initiatives in your hall. Successful bids can see projects finished before the end of the academic year, giving you a chance to enjoy what you have achieved.
Get involved and volunteer to help organise events and campaigns for the competition. Contact the Environment Rep in your hall.
Application forms for the Halls Green Fund will be available from February.
